DTI leads National MSME Week 2023 celebration

QUEZON CITY (PIA) -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) kicks-off with the celebration of the National Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Week on July 10-14, 2023 with this year's theme "Upgrade, Upskill, and Upsize MSMEs".

Throughout the week, various activities and events will be held to raise awareness about the plight of MSMEs and their contributions to the economy. These include forums, networking sessions, trainings and seminars, and a showcase of innovative products and services from MSMEs.

The week-long celebration aims to bring together government and private sector stakeholders to exchange knowledge and best practices in creating a conducive environment that would empower MSMEs and help them overcome challenges in today's competitive business landscape.

The Philippine Trade Training Center - Global MSME Academy is hosting a forum on Innovation and Digital Transformation. The forum takes place from July 11th to July 14th, 2023, providing attendees with an immersive experience that will ignite their entrepreneurial spirit and propel their business to new heights.

The forum focuses on the importance of innovation and digital transformation in today's business outlook. Industry experts and thought leaders will share insights and strategies on how MSMEs can leverage technological advancements to enhance their operations, improve productivity, and tap into new markets. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in interactive sessions to gain practical skills and knowledge.

By bringing together MSMEs, government agencies, and private sector partners, the forum aims to bridge the gap between innovation and execution. It strives to equip MSMEs with the necessary tools, information, and networks to embrace digital transformation and stay competitive in the evolving business landscape.

In addition to the forum on Innovation and Digital Transformation, the DTI Bureau of Domestic Trade and Promotion (BDTP) has organized the National Food Fair, which was officially launched on July 11, (Tuesday) and will run until July 16, 2023. The annual exhibit showcases the world-class and innovative products of 260 MSMEs from the regions and provinces all over the country. The fair is being held at the SM Megamall Trade Halls 1-3 in Mandaluyong City.

The National Food Fair aims to provide an avenue for MSMEs to promote their products and expand their market reach. The fair is an opportunity for entrepreneurs to showcase their culinary creations, promote local food products, and establish business linkages and partnerships. It is a testament to the creativity, ingenuity, and entrepreneurial spirit of Filipino MSMEs.

The fair showcases a diverse range of food products, from regional delicacies to contemporary dishes and gourmet items. It features authentic Filipino flavors, innovative fusions, and healthy offerings. Visitors can sample and savor the different products, meet the entrepreneurs behind them, and learn about their stories and business journeys.

The DTI encourages everyone to visit the National Food Fair and support the MSMEs participating in the event. By patronizing local products and businesses, we are helping to spur economic growth and promote sustainable development.

Moreover, the Kadiwa ng Pangulo of the Department of Agriculture is participating in this year’s food fair. With them joining the other MSMEs, visitors, especially, mall-goers from all walks of life can have the convenience and avail themselves of the basic food supplies, such as rice, sugar, fresh vegetables and fresh fruits at a much cheaper price.

With the celebration of the National MSME Week 2023, the DTI is reiterating its commitment to supporting the growth and development of MSMEs in the Philippines. By providing platforms and opportunities for these enterprises to showcase their products, connect with customers, and exchange knowledge and best practices, the DTI hopes to create a vibrant and dynamic MSME sector that contributes to the country's food security, economic growth and social progress.
