QUEZON CITY, (PIA) – The Office of the Vice President (OVP) signed on Tuesday, August 1, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) to extend the provision of Medical and Burial (MAB) assistance to more Filipinos.
The MOA entails a P120-million supplemental funding from PAGCOR which will cover the payment of medical bills, medicines, diagnostic procedures such as laboratory testing, medical and assistive devices, dialysis treatment, as well as curative and rehabilitative services including chemotherapy, brachytherapy, radiation, physical, speech, and occupational therapy.
The signatories of the said agreement were OVP Chief of Staff and Undersecretary Zuleika Lopez and PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco.
Vice President Sara Duterte witnessed the signing of the MOA alongside the other members and officials of PAGCOR.
THE MAB program is one of the social welfare initiatives of the OVP to cater to the needs of the poor, marginalized, vulnerable, and disadvantaged individuals.
About 82,353 beneficiaries were able to avail of the MAB assistance from July 2022 to July 2023. The aid given to said beneficiaries totals to P764,802,065.60 as per the record of the OVP.
Meanwhile, the OVP sustains cooperative partnership with 756 public and private hospitals as well as dialysis centers across the country for the efficient delivery of these services.
