CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) --To strengthen national development through volunteerism, the Communications and Advocacy (ComAd) committee of the Regional Development Council (RDC)-X convened to endorse the 2023 Bayanihan Media Awards.
The first of its kind in the country, the awards program is spearheaded by the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) in partnership with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) and the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges.
It features awards in four major categories, namely, Best Volunteerism Reporting in Print, Best Volunteerism Reporting Television, Best Volunteerism Reporting Radio, and Best Volunteerism Reporting Online Media.
PIA-10 Assistant Regional Director Apipa Bagumbaran said the Bayanihan Media Awards aims to recognize private media practitioners and media organizations nationwide for their significant role in promoting volunteerism through their work.
She also emphasized that the program is designed to encourage the public to embrace volunteerism as a way of life.
ComAd Chairperson and PIA-10 Regional Director Franklin Gumapon urged other government agencies to promote the Bayanihan Media Awards.
Gumapon said the works of the nominees for the Bayanihan Media Awards will be evaluated and deliberated by the regional screening committee (RSC) composed of PIA-10, National Economic and Development Authority-10, 4th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, Department of Social Welfare and Development-10, Department of Trade and Industry-10, Cagayan de Oro Press Club, and Regional Association of Government Communicators (RAGCOM).
The RSC, which is under the ComAd, will then endorse the regional winners to the national screening committee. (DCC/PIA-10)
