CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--The Communications and Advocacy Committee (ComAd) of the Regional Development Council (RDC)-X has approved for endorsement to the RDC-X Full Council the Northern Mindanao Regional Development Plan (NMRDP) 2023-2028 Strategic Communication Plan.
The approval was made during the second semester committee meeting, September 21.
The said plan focuses on communication activities to influence the actions of relevant stakeholders to achieve the desired outcomes outlined in the NMRDP 2023-2028.
It contains 148 intended actions and 127 communication activities to support the three main pillars of the NMRDP 2023-2028, namely, develop and protect capabilities of individuals and families; transform production sectors to generate more quality jobs and competitive products; and foster an enabling environment encompassing institutions, physical and natural environment.
The members of the committee were also oriented on the Bayanihan Media Awards 2023, an awards program initiated by the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) in collaboration with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC), and Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU).
The said program aims to recognize media practitioners who have exhibited exemplary reporting on volunteerism across print, broadcast, and online media and have been instrumental in fostering a culture of volunteerism.
As support to the program, the ComAd committee identified five member organizations to compose the Regional Screening Committee for the said awards program. These are the Regional Association of Government Communicators in Northern Mindanao, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Social Welfare and Development, 4th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, and the Cagayan de Oro Press Club. Representatives from these organizations will join the National Economic and Development Authority and the Philippines Information Agency in the deliberation and identification of regional winners for the Bayanihan media awards.
Meanwhile, Franklin Gumapon, the PIA-10 Regional Director and chairperson of the RDC-X ComAD called on committee members to support the promotion of the the various programs and projects of the government institutions within the region.
"Let us all support the Northern Mindanao Regional Development Plan for 2023-2028 by promoting the programs, projects, and activities pursued by the different regional line agencies and local government units in the entire Northern Mindanao," he said. (APB/PIA-10)
