First super health center in Western Mindanao, unveiled in Zambo City

ZAMBOANGA CITY (PIA) -- The Department of Health (DOH) Zamboanga Peninsula- Center for Health Development has officially inaugurated the Sangali Super Health Center, which will be jointly run with the Zamboanga City Health Office of the local government unit. This marks the first Super Health Center in the Western Mindanao region.

Located in Barangay Sangali, Zamboanga City with an area of 589 square meters of property owned by the city government, the Super Health Center will provide a wide range of medical services for the people of the nearby communities and barangays.

Once the health facility becomes operational, it will provide a comprehensive range of services available to the public. These services include medical consultations for out-patients, dispensing of medicines, pre-natal and post-natal care, birthing and family planning services, clinical laboratory services, X-ray and ultrasound imaging services, as well as ambulatory surgical services, among others.

In addition to the Sangali Super Health Center, two other medium Super Health Centers are currently being constructed in Barangay Talon-talon and Barangay Manicahan in the city of Zamboanga. This initiative aims to provide more comprehensive and accessible healthcare services to the population.

Mayor Dalipe expressed gratitude to the DOH-9, Senator Christopher ‘Bong’ Go represented by Asec Jade Jamolod, and Congressman Mannix Dalipe, represented by Jojo Dalipe, for their unwavering support in realizing the project.

He stressed that the Sangali Super Health Center would go a long way in improving the overall health outcomes and promoting the well-being of the people in the city.

Reflecting the government's commitment to prioritize the health and welfare of its citizens, the Sangali Super Health Center was built at a cost of Php13.4 million.

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, Chairman of the Committee on Health and Sports, facilitated the project through the DOH’s Health Facilities Enhancement Program. Last October 2022, he announced to the Zamboangueños that a Super Health Center would be put up in Zamboanga City.

A "super health center" is a medium type of polyclinic; it is slightly bigger than the rural health unit but smaller than the hospital and will be placed in strategic areas. The centers aim to give Filipinos better access to the healthcare services provided by the government, most especially in faraway places where it is needed the most.
