 Pres. Marcos to grace ‘Pagpupugay sa mga Bayani ng Bansang Makabayan’

DAVAO CITY (PIA) – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. will grace the thanksgiving gathering of beneficiaries of the government’s Comprehensive Social Benefits Program (CSBP) in Davao City today, September 29.

Around 300 families/beneficiaries and heads of agencies of all CSBP partners will come together for the "Pagpupugay sa mga Bayani ng Bansang Makabayan (PBBM)" here.

The CSBP provides assistance to families of uniformed personnel killed or wounded in operations.

The event, hosted by the Department of the Interior and Local Government led by Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos, Jr., aims to recognize and pay tribute to the heroism and sacrifices of uniformed personnel who got killed or wounded in the line of duty while staying true to their oath of serving and protecting their fellowmen.

President Marcos Jr. is also expected to be joined by Vice President Sara Z. Duterte, Senators R. Imee Marcos, Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, and Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte.

Executive Order No. 110 s. of 2020 issued by former President Rodrigo R. Duterte has institutionalized the CSBP, provides immediate and long-term assistance to affected families which includes special financial assistance, educational/scholarship assistance, special welfare assistance, health and medical care assistance, shelter assistance, and employment assistance.

The DILG, as lead implementer of the CSBP, ensures that prompt action is taken to efficiently and expeditiously deliver assistance to covered personnel and their qualified beneficiaries.

The program covers military and police forces, including uniformed personnel of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and the Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) Active Auxiliary (CAA) units.

Since 2016, the program has already given a total of P468.75 million in special financial assistance and P308.45 million worth of shelter assistance.

The program has also extended educational assistance, covering 96 PNP personnel Killed in Police Operations (KIPO) beneficiaries and a total of 173 scholars.

For the health and medical assistance, there are 731 PNP KIPO beneficiaries who are for enrollment/renewal with the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).

There were also 402 killed in action AFP/CAA and 150 PNP KIPO who have been assisted on their employment.

Today’s visit of President Marcos Jr. is his third time in the Davao Region since his inauguration. The first was in October 2022 for the groundbreaking of the Samal Island-Davao City Connector Project, and the second was on July 1, 2023 in Digos City in Davao del Sur and Davao City.  (PIA Davao/With story from DILG)
