PRCMO conducts free Pasig River educational tours

QUEZON CITY (PIA) -- The Pasig River Coordinating and Management Office (PRCMO), under the Department of Environment and Natural Resource (DENR) conducted their first educational tour on Saturday, September 23, 2023, which showcased the rich history that the Pasig River possesses, the incredible transformation the major waterway has undertaken through the past years, and the bright potential the river has to offer for the succeeding generation of Filipinos.

The trip was met with considerable success. Participants, ranging from teachers to students, not only learn but enjoyed the ride and the sights on the ferry. At least 70 people, with employees included, witnessed the environmental efforts of the government and the brilliance of the tour exhibiting the beauty of the primary waterway in the metro.

Moreover, the PRCMO has proceeded with the sign-ups for the second tour slated on September 30, once again giving citizens a chance to witness and learn the river’s history and evolution, while onboard on a ferry. As per the last tour, this one will also be on a Saturday.

These educational tours are completely free and would only require one to fill out the google form on this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeetKA4F42l6YiZ5a5udzp5VeeKYLJdqnnFouzk63Gu73Aq6A/closedform. The slots are limited only to 50.

This worthwhile event will take place from the Lawton Ferry Station in Manila to the Guadalupe Ferry Station, and back to the Lawton Ferry Station. Participants are expected to be at Lawton Station at 6:30 am, as the tour starts from 7 am. A single trip lasts approximately two hours.

What was once an infamous river, notorious for its contaminated and trash-filled waters, has now become a symbol of the nation’s efforts in creating a cleaner, more beautiful Philippines. (PIA-NCR)
