DOH 6 Assistant Regional Director Ma. Sophia Pulmones will keynote the opening ceremonies which will also be attended by RSC 6 Chairperson and National Economic and Development Authority 6 director Arecio Casing and PSA 6 Officer-in-Charge Director Nelida Amolar.
The Department of Health (DOH) Western Visayas – Center for Health Development is spearheading the opening activities for this year’s celebration bearing the theme “Accelerating Progress: Promoting Data and Statistics for Healthy Philippines.”
On its 34th year, Hisuan said the celebration will highlight the importance of quality health and health-related statistics in accelerating the socioeconomic development of the country.
“Starting in 2020, the whole world experienced the COVID 19 pandemic and because of that gathering, collecting and generating quality statistics and data on health were given importance. Health is one of the sectors that contribute to the progress of the country’s economy and, human health is one of the vital resources in economic stability by productivity,” said Hisuan in an interview over PIA Kapihan Regionwide radio program.
The month-long celebration is in pursuant to President Proclamation No. 647 which declares the month of October of every year as the National Statistics Month primarily, to promote, enhance and instill awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of the society.
Hisuan said various contests will be launched for the regional celebration designed to get the participation of the different sectors. These contests are the following: photography, essay writing, Infomercial, Infographics, E-poster making, Statistiktok, and quiz.
