2nd Leg of 2023 FOI Workshop for Librarians held in Bohol

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, October 2 (PIA) -- The Presidential Communications Office (PCO), through the Freedom of Information-Program Management Office (FOI-PMO), conducted the second leg of its 2023 FOI Workshop for Librarians in Bohol.

The FOI Workshop for Librarians is one of FOI-PMO’s efforts to promote access to government information within the academic institutions and among information specialists.

The activity aimed to capacitate registered librarians on the use of FOI program and FOI portal in their respective libraries and learning institutions.

Using the FOI program will help the learners as well as the faculty members in accessing government information for research and thesis-making.

On September 29, around 30 registered librarians from the Visayas attended the workshop held at the Panda Tea Garden Suites in Tagbilaran City.

The workshop featured discussions on the FOI Program, including a hands-on activity on the use of the electronic FOI (e-FOI) portal during the morning session.

In the afternoon session, invited speakers from the National Archives of the Philippines, Department of Science and Technology-Science and Technology Information Institute (DOST-STII), and National Book Development Board Philippines (NBDB) discussed their respective office’s campaign initiatives such as Electronic Records Management Policy (ERMP), BookNook, and StarBOOKS.

The PCO-FOI PMO is accredited by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) as a continuing professional development (CPD) provider.

The participants earned 5.5 credit units after completion of the workshop.

For the third leg of the workshop, the FOI-PMO intends to capacitate the registered librarians in the Mindanao region. (ECB/PIA7-Bohol)
