RSC 6 launches stats infomercial, infographics contests

ILOILO CITY (PIA) -- The Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) in Western Visayas launched contests that encourage national government agencies, local government units, and other RSC member organizations in this part of the country to present their statistical reports creatively and easily understandable by the public as part of the 34th National Statistics Month (NSM) celebration.

These contests are the 2023 Statistical Infomercial Contest spearheaded by the West Visayas State University (WVSU) and the 2023 Statistical Infographics Contest hosted by the Philippine Statistical Association, Inc. Region 6 Chapter.

In both contests, participating agencies are allowed to submit one entry reflecting this year’s celebration’s theme “Accelerating Progress: Promoting Data and Statistics for Healthy Philippines”.

The WVSU Department of Mathematics will accept entries for the Statistical Infomercial Contest until 12 NN of October 17 through Google Drive to be sent to email address cas_math@wvsu.edu.ph.

Infomercials submitted will be posted on the NSM Official Facebook Page (34th National Statistics Month – Western Visayas) from October 18 to 23, 2023. Participating agencies with the most number of views and the most reacted videos will be declared as winners for the special award for the said category, the People’s Choice Awards consisting of the Most Viewed Video Award and Most Reacted Video.

Participants for the Statistical Infographics Contest may send their entries in JPEG format to psairegion6@gmail.com in (600 x 1200 dpi) high-resolution. The committee will accept entries until Friday, October 13.

All entries submitted will also be posted on the official FB page of the 34th NSM which will be judged from October 16 to 20.

Winners in both contests will receive the following prizes: First Place – P7,000 and certificate; Second place – P5,000 and certificate; P3,000 and certificate. For the special awards, top winners will receive P1,000 and certificates.

They will receive their cash awards and certificates during the closing ceremony of the month-long regional celebration on October 26.
