ILOILO CITY (PIA) -- Nine local government units (LGUs) in Iloilo province qualified for the final evaluation of the 2023 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).

These LGUs include the municipalities of Concepcion, Anilao, Dingle, Lambunao, Mina, Bingawan and Pavia, Passi City and the Iloilo provincial government.

They have passed the regional level validation and hence were subjected to the national validation.

The national team led by Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region IV-A Regional Director Ariel O. Iglesia, CESO III and DILG Region III Regional Director Anthony C. Nuyda, CESO III were in Iloilo to validate the performances of the said LGUs from October 2-5. Both officials have served as Regional Directors of DILG 6.

In a Facebook post, DILG-Iloilo said the national validation is an integral stage that will confirm the results and support final recommendations on the initial list of 2023 SGLG Awardees.

Validators assessed the performance of the said LGUs on the ten areas of governance through document review, interview with the local functionaries and onsite visit.

The ten governance areas are Financial Administration, Disaster Preparedness, Social Protection and Sensitivity, Health Compliance and Responsiveness, Sustainable Education, Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness; Safety, Peace and Order; Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture and Arts; Environmental Management; and Youth Development.

SGLG is an honor and recognition -based program to boost local government units’ commitment to continuously progress and improve their performance along these governance areas. (AAL/LAF/PIA6-Iloilo)
