CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--In an inclusive PIA interview, Misamis Oriental Provincial Administrator John Venice Ladaga said that bringing down the poverty incidence is a long-term vision of the provincial government headed by Governor Peter M. Unabia.
The interview took place after the NMRDP (Northern Mindanao Regional Development Plan) 2023-2028 Provincial and Highly-Urbanized City Roadshow held at the Capitol Grounds, which gathered representatives from the legislative, national government agencies, local government, business, academe, youth, and children sector in Misamis Oriental.
Ladaga added that this vision will be realized through the implementation of different programs that aim to push for poverty reduction and provision of means of livelihood among the constituents.
“Ang livelihood is hatag gyud sa kada pamilya, naa gyud ayuda nga ihatag. Tagaan gyud sila financial assistance for their livelihood but adunay grupo nga mag-monitor nila (Each family receive livelihood support through financial assistance that they can use in starting their enterprise. However, we have a group to monitor them),” he said.
Aside from providing livelihood support to families, the provincial government also supported the province’s micro, small, and medium enterprises by saving them from debt through the Provincial Micro-Finance Unit-Livelihood for Economic Recovery and Acceleration Program. The local government also assisted them in developing products and services.
“Ma-improve nila ang ilahang negosyo kay naa ma’y magtutok dayon niana from the province to monitor, to evaluate, to assess sa ilahang operations para dili mapareha sa uban nga nahapay. (They have learned to improve their businesses because the provincial government continues to monitor them. Aside from that, our representatives also help evaluate and assess their operations so that they will not be like those who have failed in managing their businesses),” he said.
The administrator also shared that the provincial government has partnered with different institutions and businesses locally and internationally to provide a means of income among its constituents. (PIA-10/IJBDayo)
