MISAMIS ORIENTAL (PIA)--The Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental received an award as an Exemplar in a Festival of Local Excellence on October 16, at Chali Beach Resort, Cagayan de Oro City.
Misamis Oriental garnered 100% functionality in its programs for peace and order.
It also has 95.5% for anti-trafficking and violence against women and children. The rating is equivalent to the Ideal Local Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Children (ILCAT-VAWC).
The Department of the Interior and Local Government- Region 10 (DILG-10) organized the Festival of Local Excellence to recognize and award local government units (LGUs) that have demonstrated outstanding performance in implementing programs related to peace and order, child protection and combatting human trafficking and violence against women and children.
“This month of October, we are celebrating the 32nd anniversary of the local government code under the banner of the Philippine Local Governance Program. Festival of Local Excellence is a celebration that highlights local government units’ successful implementation of their functions and invaluable contribution towards nation-building. So, this month, we have lined up so many activities with different departments to celebrate the local government code month,” said DILG-10 Regional Director Wilhelm M. Suyko.
He also highlighted significant events for this month, including World Food Day and Local Government Units Day.
Representatives from LGUs, as well as members of the LCAT-VAWC Regional Interagency Monitoring Team, Local Council for Protection of Children (LCPC) Regional Interagency Monitoring Task Force, and Peace and Order Council (POC) Performance Audit Regional Assessment Team, attended the event.
On behalf of Governor Peter M. Unabia, Provincial Administrator John Venice Ladaga and colleagues received the award. (PIA-10/IJBD)
