Retail stores, food terminal and flower shop in the key trading center of the island province, such as the Jordan town, were among the areas visited by DTI-Guimaras to monitor and inspect the prices of goods to include bottled water, candles and flowers.
DTI-Guimaras OIC provincial director Romel Amihan noted that the majority of the retailers complied with the suggested retail prices (SRP). There is also a sufficient supply of bottled water and candles.
“The DTI urges the public to refer to the latest SRP of the Basic Necessities and Prime Commodities (BNPC) issued earlier this year,” Amihan said.
Amihan also advised consumers to exercise their rights to choose, seek information, and have redress mechanisms in place if issues arise.
“By being informed, vigilant and proactive, consumers can protect themselves from potential exploitation or misinformation during this high-demand period,” Amihan noted.
