Inauguration of the Davao City Coastal Bypass Road Project (Segment A)

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Z. Duterte joined the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in unveiling another major road development project with the inauguration of the Davao City Coastal Bypass Road Project (Segment A) in Davao City on July 1, 2023.

Segment A covers the coastal lines of Bago Aplaya- Times Beach Section (Talomo-Matina). During the program, President Marcos Jr. conducts an inaugural drive-through along a part of the coastal bypass road.

With assistance from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Davao City Coastal Bypass Road Project is among the major road projects included in the Infrastructure Modernization for Davao City (IM4 Davao) that will support the City’s urban infrastructure development plan.

Once completed, travel time from Toril Area to the City proper will be significantly reduced from 1 hour and 45 minutes to just 30 minutes, and urbanization will be dispersed outside the Davao City Urban Center. Moreover, the coastal shore protection and breakwater incorporated in the said project will protect the City from sea wave actions, water surges, and soil erosion.
