The Department of Education (DepEd), in collaboration with other departments and offices, celebrates 2023 White Cane Safety Day on August 1, 2023, at the PIA Auditorium, Quezon City.

This year's theme "Puting Baston: Gabay sa MATATAG na kinabukasan, Inklusibong Edukasyon at Pamayanan," aims to raise awareness about the significance of the white cane as a symbol of independence and mobility for individuals with visual impairments. The celebration seeks to promote the inclusion of visually impaired individuals in education and community, fostering a more inclusive society where everyone can actively participate and have access to equal opportunities.

Through this event, the organizers intend to highlight the importance of providing support, understanding, and respect for the visually impaired community, ensuring that they can lead empowered and resilient lives, and contributing positively to their futures and the country.
