Amid another surge: PRC reintensifies isolation facilities

MANDALUYONG CITY -- The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) reintensifies its isolation facilities in preparation for the Covid-19 surge as the Department of Health (DOH) recorded more than 8,000 new cases last August 10, 2021.

PRC had previously turned unused classrooms in Ateneo, UP, Benilde, and Makati Science High school into isolation facilities in response to the COVID-19 surge that happened last April 2021.

"Kailangan nating umaksyon agad. Mas maraming mahahawa kung hindi tayo kikilos. Agaran natin ipinatayo ang isolation facilities noong Abril upang maiwasan ng asymptomatic spreaders ang makapanghawa sa kanilang mga pamilya," PRC Chairman Sen. Gordon said.

PRC will be giving Covid-19 isolation kits to patients in these facilities to limit interaction and prevent the further spread of the virus. PRC will also launch its telemedicine for patients to have them assessed by volunteer doctors for daily monitoring.

“Kapag ang tao at ang lider ay nagsama-sama, lalabas ang tibay at galing natin laban sa pandemya. The PRC, led by our team of volunteers and staff made up of doctors and healthcare professionals, will continue to innovate and cooperate to keep the virus at bay, and alleviate its impact on the most vulnerable families,” Gordon added.
