TUBOD, Lanao del Norte (PIA)--The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte (PGLDN), through the Provincial Agriculture Office, distributed garden tools and assorted vegetable seeds to 31 communal gardens from the municipality of Baroy, Tubod, Kolambugan, Magsaysay, and Maigo on Friday, August 13.
As assistance to coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) affected gardeners, the project was funded out of the 5% DRRM Fund of the PGLDN implemented by the PAO under the Gulayan Program "Dagdag Pagkain and Pangkabuhayan".
"This is just a beginning, there are 119 communal gardens left to receive the PGLDN assistance. These seeds and tools will greatly help the vegetable farmers cultivate their gardens and provide food on the table," said Provincial Agriculture Officer Letecia Ditucalan.
Each farmer received a shovel, hoe, rake, nylon trellis net, water sprinkler, bolo, trellis twine, trowel, seedling tray, garden fork, and hand spray. Each also received cans of value pack pinakbet, highland kangkong, pechay, patola, and cucumber.
Provincial Governor Imelda ‘Angging' Quibranza-Dimaporo thanked the PAO and the municipal local government units for their support to the project as she recognizes the hard work of local farmers and sees the need to somehow uplift their spirits and improve their livelihood by providing the necessary tools for their crops.
