MANDALUYONG CITY -- The Philippine Red Cross is by far one of the most efficient partners of the government in battling the COVID-19 pandemic. Proof of this is that the humanitarian organization has breached the 4 million mark when it comes to RT-PCR swab and saliva testing. PRC has also vaccinated over 156,709 individuals as of August 29, 2021, in its Bakuna Centers and Bakuna Buses nationwide.

"As the premier humanitarian organization in the country, the Red Cross will always be there to promote health, keep the world safe and serve the vulnerable. From testing to vaccination, and all things in between, anything related to COVID-19 response, we will always act on it,” said PRC Chair and CEO Senator Dick Gordon.

With the 4 million milestone reached by PRC’s 14 molecular laboratories nationwide, the country’s premier organization is the country’s top COVID testing agency, which is a mean feat considering that testing is one of the critical keys in controlling the virus.

Additionally, PRC’s vaccination program is also in full gear in parallel to its testing centers.

“As I said before, testing and vaccination are our primary weapons to win our war against COVID-19. As long as I am the head of Red Cross, we will stay true to our mantra of being Always First, Always Ready, and Always There, especially during the pandemic,” added Gordon.

On the vaccination side, PRC Health Services Manager Mark Abrigo told the press that 138,020 have alrwady been vaccinated in the PRC Bakuna Centers while 18,689 have been vaccinated in the PRC Bakuna Buses nationwide.

Outside the vaccine supply from the governmenf, the PRC shoulders all other costs under its COVID-19 Vaccination Program including but not limited to syringes, mobilization, and vaccinator allowances.
