MWSS RO orders Maynilad to explain its recently announced water service interruptions

QUEZON CITY -- In light of Maynilad Water Services, Inc.’s most recent Water Service Interruption (WSI) announcements, the MWSS Regulatory Office (RO) issued a notice to the West Zone Concessionaire to explain 1) its failure to properly and effectively notify all affected customers in advance of its planned Water Service Interruption (WSI) schedules, and 2) the issues behind its recently announced WSIs lasting from 14 August to 01 September 2022.

In line with its directive to utilize all available communication channels in disseminating information on WSIs, the MWSS RO reminded Maynilad to post notices on social media (specifically on Facebook and Twitter) and traditional media (radio, television, and newspapers)—in addition to its text blasts to customers registered in the TextTubig program—at least 48 hours prior to its implementation of planned WSIs.

The MWSS RO ordered Maynilad to strictly adhere to its announced WSI schedules, ramp up its tankering operations and coordination with the affected barangays, and implement other measures necessary to mitigate the adverse effects of the WSIs on the consuming public. It also directed the Concessionaire to submit a concrete plan of action and implement viable solutions to address the persisting water supply and quality issues in the West Zone, and to fast-track the resumption of normal services to its customers.

Meanwhile, the MWSS RO advises customers to contact Maynilad through the following channels for inquiries or concerns regarding WSIs:

Twitter: https://twitter.com/maynilad
Website: https://www.mayniladwater.com.ph/
Helpdesk email: customer.helpdesk@mayniladwater.com.ph
Customer hotline: 1626
Cavite customers (Toll-free): 1800-1000-WATER
Cellphone number: +63 998 864 1446

The MWSS RO also urges customers to report deviations from the announced WSI schedules and to escalate inquiries or concerns that have not been satisfactorily addressed or resolved by Maynilad to the MWSS RO Customer Service Regulation Area (CSRA) via email at csr@ro.mwss.gov.ph for proper investigation and appropriate action.

The MWSS RO reassures the public that it continuously monitors the prevailing water supply and quality conditions in the Concession Areas. Any sustained failure of the Concessionaires to meet their contractual obligations may affect the ongoing Rate Rebasing and/or may be ground for the imposition of financial penalties. (MWSS)
