DPWH reports 5 remaining closed roads in Luzon due to ‘Florita’

QUEZON CITY -- A total of five (5) national road sections in the Cordillera Administrative Region, Regions 1 and 4-A remain closed to traffic after Severe Tropical Storm Florita hit northern Luzon causing landslide, road cut, and soil collapse.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bureau of Maintenance reported that as of 6:00 am Thursday, August 25, 2022, three (3) roads in CAR, one (1) road in Region 2, and another one (1) Region 4-A are still impassable.

In CAR, affected sections are: Kennon Road due to safety reasons; Claveria-Calanasan-Kabugao Road, K0717+500-K0717+570, Namaltugan, Calanasan, Apayao due to road cut and soil collapse; and Mt. Province - Ilocos Sur via Tue, K0387+450 Beto Section, Tue, Tadian, Mt. Province due to rock collapse.

Other roads that are still closed are: Cabagan-Sta. Maria Road, Cabagan Overflow Bridge in Isabela due to high water elevation; and the Sagbat Pililla Diversion Road, K0052+500 LS Baras, Rizal due to landslide.

DPWH Quick Response Teams have so far cleared and reopened a total of six (6) road sections, covering four (4) in CAR and one (1) each in Regions 1 and 2. (DPWH)
