CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--The Public Employment and Services Office (PESO) of Cagayan de Oro, in collaboration with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Cagayan de Oro Field Office, conducted the employers’ forum with the contractors in the manpower and construction agencies, March 29.
DOLE-CDO Field Office Chief Emmanuel G. Toledo and PESO Manager Kathleen Kate D. Sorilla were present in the forum and shared their insights, along with Labor Inspectors and SEADOs of the Bureau of Working Conditions of DOLE-CDO.
The event is a learning activity for the participants. Contractors were introduced to General Labor Standards, Occupational Safety and Health Standards, the Construction Safety and Health Program (CSHP), salient features of Department Order No. 174 series of 2017, the Employees' Compensation Commission, and salient features of RA 9321.
The speakers also talked about information that PESO says is important for employers, especially those who hire people to do hard, service-oriented work.
The goal of the forum was to get employers involved and give them the tools they need to protect the rights and well-being of their workers. It is also in line with the RISECDO vision of the city government under the leadership of Mayor Rolando A. Uy. RISECDO works to get the city's economy back on track by putting in place programs and projects that help people find jobs. (IJBD/PIA-10)
