Dapitan signs manifestation of intent to join DOST's Smart and Sustainable Communities Program

DAPITAN CITY, Zamboanga del Norte – Mayor Seth Frederick P. Jalosjos signed a manifestation of intent (MOI) to join the Department of Science and Technology's (DOST) Smart and Sustainable Communities (SSC) Program.

The signing of the MOI is a significant step towards Dapitan's vision to become a Smart Heritage City by 2040. The SSC Program aims to assist LGUs in developing and implementing smart city initiatives that are aligned with their respective development plans.

Under the SSC Program, DOST will provide technical assistance to Dapitan City in developing its smart city roadmap. The roadmap will identify key areas for smart city development, as well as specific projects and initiatives that can be implemented to achieve the city's vision.

DOST will also provide support in capacity building, research and development, and technology transfer. This will help Dapitan City to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to implement and manage its smart city initiatives.

Mayor Jalosjos expressed his gratitude to DOST for its support in Dapitan City's Smart Heritage City vision. He said that the SSC Program will provide the city with the necessary tools and resources to achieve its goals of becoming a more sustainable, livable, and inclusive city.

"We are committed to making Dapitan City a Smart Heritage City. We believe that the SSC Program will help us to achieve our vision for a more prosperous and sustainable future for our city," Mayor Jalosjos said.

Dapitan City is the first LGU in Zamboanga del Norte to join the SSC Program.
