Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay: Fostering tourism for a brighter future

BUUG, Zamboanga Sibugay, August 09 (PIA) - The tourism industry is a vital sector that showcases the richness and beauty of towns and cities. Zamboanga Sibugay province is endowed with natural resources, pristine seas, and breathtaking landscapes, paving the way for a thriving tourism industry.

The town of Buug in Zamboanga Sibugay is blessed with captivating destinations that attract tourists. Some of theremarkable attractions include the Sea of Clouds at Mt. Zechariah's Peak, Dos Mamas Twin Peak, Ligaya Falls, Muyo Falls, Agutayan Falls, Tore ni Rabi, Buug Cave Park, and the Agutayan Tarsier Habitat.

To foster its tourism industry, the local government of Buug, through itsTourism Office, is taking steps to highlight the various attractions of their town. A recent initiative they undertook involved a benchmarking activity  in Misamis Oriental with the goal of gaining insights on how to improve tourism in Buug.

"We learned valuable lessons from Misamis Oriental's best practices. They are excellent at how historical sites can be preserved and utilized for tourism while honoring their significance,” Grace E. Halasan, Tourism Officer of Buug said.

The Buug Tourism Office aims to replicate the effective strategies of Misamis Oriental in managing tourism in their province. 

“We also learned how to develop and promote natural landscapes’ sustainably. Additionally, their emphasis on preserving the environment through eco-friendly initiatives aligned perfectly with sustainable tourism ideals. This gives us clear examples to follow in Buug for better tourism," she added.

LGU Buug encourages visitors to explore their area and experience the awe-inspiring attractions. Visitors can experience the feel of Benguet by visiting the Sea of Clouds at Mt. Zechariah's Peak and the charm of Bohol by visiting the Agutayan Tarsier Habitat.

The Buug Tourism Office assures that tourists can confidently explore the province without any concerns about their safety. As a matter of fact,  the recent visit of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in Zamboanga Sibugay and the successful Post-SONA forum in Dapitan City confirmed that it is indeed safe to explore the attractions of the region, especially the town of Buug.

“Come visit Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay. Explore our forests, waterfalls, caves, and beaches. Experience our culture, warm hospitality, and indulge in local flavors, whether you like adventure or just relaxing, Buug has it all. Discover the beauty of Buug with us,” Halasan graciously invited tourists to visit.

Buug can be reached from Pagadian City with an approximately one-hour journey by bus or private vehicle. Visitors can drop by the Buug Tourism Office for assistance to ensure a seamless experience while exploring captivating  attractions in the province.
