ILIGAN CITY (PIA) --The City Director of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) here underscored that the system of governance under the Duterte administration has come a long way and is much better compared to previous administrations.

Director Edward Bhagwani made the statement during the launching of the Duterte Legacy Barangayanihan Caravan in Brgy. Tipanoy on Friday, October 29.

"Dili pareha sa una nga lain-lain ang government programs depende sa mga nagkalain-laing agencies but karon with the administration ni President Duterte makita nato nga giconverge ning tanan para mahimo siyang hiniusa nga paghatag sa serbisyo," he said.

[Unlike before where different government agencies have different programs but now with the administration of President Duterte we can see that all of this has converged so that we can provide a unified service.]

Bhagwani cited the services now offered by the Philippine National Police as an example of this improved governance. He said policemen before are focused on law enforcement but now they also play a vital role in the convergence of efforts to show to the people that the government is really working.

The Iligan City leg of the Duterte Legacy Barangayanihan Caravan was organized by the Iligan City Police Office following the successful launching of the caravan in Northern Mindanao.

Bhagwani said the Barangayanihan is part of the entire aspect of the President's plan for government agencies to work together in an integrated manner to bring the much-needed services to the people. This, he said, is called the "whole-of-nation approach."

"Ang ato lang gusto nga masayran sa katawhan nga walay lain nga motabang, walay lain nga mohatag og pagtagad kun dili ang gobyerno ra gyud," he further said.

[We just want the people to know that no one else will help them, no one else will pay attention to their needs except the government.]

The DILG City Director also reminded Iliganons that the caravan is an expression of the President's drive to show and explain that everything the government is doing is genuine and it is for the interest and service of all Filipinos. (APB/PIA Lanao del Norte)
