ICPO chief urges gov’t agencies to give service with passion

ILIGAN CITY (PIA)--Following the rollout of the Duterte Legacy campaign in the city, Iligan City Police Office (ICPO) Acting City Police Director PCol. Wilbur Salaguste called on the government agencies to fuel their service with their passion instead of mere compliance with a directive.

“Ito kasi hindi lang dahil may utos, kung hindi, individually, you should be passionate enough to help other people. Hindi kasi ito for compliance. Dapat bitbit mo iyong advocacy at committed ka sa pagtulong sa kapwa kasi kung iisipin mo iyong opisina, magiging for compliance lang. But if you are committed personally, then maganda ang kinahinanatnan ng activity na gagawin,” he said.

“This should not be because there is an instruction, rather, individually, you should be passionate enough to help other people. This is not for compliance. You should uphold the advocacy and be committed to helping your fellowmen because if you think of your office, this will just be for compliance. But if you are committed personally, then the outcome of the activity will be wonderful.]

With this, Salaguste thanked the line agencies and organizations for their presence during the caravan while continuously urging them to fuel their service with their passion instead of mere compliance to a directive.

Meanwhile, the ICPO chief firmly stressed that the campaign is not coated with any political business.

“There is no politics sa [in] Duterte Legacy. Ito lang ay pinapaalam natin kung ano ang mga serbisyo ng mga line agencies na pwede ibigay [This is just awareness on the services of line agencies that can be offered],” he said in an interview during the Duterte Legacy Barangayanihan Caravan here Friday, October 29.

Salaguste reiterated that the caravan is an initiative wherein government agencies, volunteers from a global coalition of advocacy groups, and force multipliers collaborate to inform the public about the government’s programs, policies, accomplishments, and effort to bring about real change to the lives of Filipino people and improve the dynamic relationship between the government and the community.

He further stated that different partner agencies assist with programs dedicated to help achieve its target goals such as livelihood and information dissemination to ensure that people can be productive members of the community.

Salaguste maintained that government agencies’ initiatives are having convergence to deliver a more significant impact, particularly to the less fortunate ones, believing that if they render their services individually, the citizenry will not at all feel the essence of their assistance.

On the part of the ICPO, the acting city director underscored that his office partook in the same effort as they have been aiding people for a long time already, especially those in depressed areas, and this serves as his commitment as well while he is still in service.

Salaguste remained optimistic that the Duterte Legacy Barangayanihan Caravan will still run for more years so that a vast population will be covered and benefit from various necessary services. (CRG/PIA-Lanao del Norte)
