TUBOD, Lanao del Norte (PIA) -- The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region 10 provided essential items to fight the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) to six Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (MDRRMOs) and pilot schools that will undergo the limited face-to-face (F2F) learning modality program.
The six schools included for the F2F classes are Babalaya Elementary School in Bacolod municipality, Dalama Central Elementary School in Baroy, Marcela T. Mabanta National High School in Kauswagan, Napo Elementary School in Linamon, Tambacon Integrated School in Magsaysay and Masibay Integrated School in Nunungan town.
The said schools have requested augmentation support for the implementation of the pilot F2F classes. OCD-10 acted on this request and procured some COVID-19 essential items.
“We consider this a big help because when we see the materials required by our pupils our teachers, nakita namin na [we saw that] some of these LGUs na where the schools belong will not be able to fully provide these materials, that's where we come in because OCD assessed our LGUs,” said OCD-10 director Antonio Sugarol.
Sugarol, who is also the chairperson of Northern Mindanao Task Force for COVID-19, reminded the teachers of the pilot schools to strictly follow the instructions of the Department of Education and Department of Health that only those teachers who are fully vaccinated will be given the task to be in schools.
The MDRRMOs in the municipalities of Magsaysay, Nunungan, Baroy, Kauswagan, Linamon and Bacolod received 100 sets of personal protective equipment (PPE) each. The PPEs include coverall suits, KN95 masks, disposable facemasks, shoe cover, headcover and googles.
In total, OCD distributed 120 gallons of alcohol, 180 bottles of antibacterial hand soap, 120 bottles of liquid disinfectant, 30 thermal scanners with alcohol dispensers, and 300 boxes of facemasks.
Aside from OCD-10, the Philippine Information Agency provided 5 gallons of alcohol while the Department of Public Works and Highways - Lanao del Norte 1st District Engineering Office pledged to give PPE set to Masibay Integrated School. (LELA/ PIA Lanao del Norte)
