TUBOD, Lanao del Norte (PIA) -- To achieve high vaccination rates against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), local chief executives (LCEs) are encouraged to create strategies to encourage their constituents to get inoculated.
Office of Civil Defense Region 10 Director Antonio Sugarol said mayors should go down to the communities and craft mechanisms to accomplish the target for the vaccination of the populace.
“The secret to that high vaccination accomplished is thru the local chief executives going down to the purok, barangay, initiating some strategy para maabot ang [to achieve the] target that they themselves seek in their LGU,” he said.
According to Sugarol, for the surge to not happen, the citizenry should be vaccinated emphasizing that all provinces in the region now have available vaccines.
The Northern Mindanao Task Force for COVID-19 chairperson said that despite the decline of COVID-19 cases, the fight against the virus still continues.
“For the period of so many weeks already, not only here in Lanao del Norte, not only region 10, but nationwide, only few remaining regions sa bansa [in the country] are continuing to see rising cases in Covid. But most including Region 10, Lanao del norte, bumababa [decreases] but the fight is not over,” he said.
He also appealed to residents who are hesitant to get vaccinated while he lauded the mayors who are giving incentives to their constituents who get their jabs. (LELA/ PIA Lanao del Norte)
