25 TESDA scholars graduate from welding course in Gingoog

GINGOOG CITY, Misamis Oriental (PIA)--Graduation rites were formally held for 25 former rebels (FRs), Indigenous People (IPs) and Anti-CTG-NPA individuals who finished their training on Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC-I and NC-II by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in Barangay Bakid-Bakid, here.

“I am very happy na dinhi sa Gingoog, TESDA is very supportive, just yesterday, ang DOLE naghatag pud ug starter kits, ang dakbayan sa Gingoog ni uswag bisan pa man sa pandemic,” said Gingoog City Mayor Erick Cañosa.

(I am very happy that here in Gingoog, TESDA is very supportive, just yesterday, DOLE also provided starter kits, the city of Gingoog is thriving despite the pandemic)

Scholars were given the opportunity to benefit from the Livelihood Training Skills through the Gingoog Traning Opportunities (GINTO) program, the assistance of the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC), and Community Training and Employment Coordinators (CTEC). 

The event was also supported by 58th Infantry "Dimalulupig" Battalion as one of the programs under Executive Order 70 or the whole of nation approach to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC).

“Ang atong mga kabatan-onan diri sa Barangay Bakid-bakid  dili na sila mailad karon tungod kay daghan na sila nakat-onan, sama sa pag-welding ug uban life skills. Sila na manguna para makahatag og kaayuhan sa ilang barangay,” said 58IB Executive Battalion Officer Hermilando Corvera Jr.

(Our youth here in Barangay Bakid-bakid can no longer be deceived because they have learned a lot, such as welding and other life skills, they will take the lead in improving their barangay)

As part of the partnership between TESDA-Misamis Oriental and the Local Government of Gingoog, the recently graduated TESDA scholars are then given employment opportunity assistance by the LGU.
