RC Tuguegarao Rainbow rolls out global grant project

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) – Sustainable water will soon be accessed to three public schools and host communities this year after the Rotary Club of Tuguegarao Rainbow (RCTR) conducted the groundbreaking ceremonies for potable water system projects recently.

Shelley T. Pascual, president, named Turod and Bantay Elementary Schools in Solana, Cagayan, and Buenavista Elementary School in Sta. Maria, Isabela as school beneficiaries of the project.

"Water System and WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) are the main service projects of Rotary International to help learners, students, and communities who do not have adequate potable drinking water," Pascual said.

This is the third in a row that the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International granted the RCTR global grant (GG2235744) application for rotary year 2021–2022 during the term of Immediate Past President Rodel Rodriguez in partnership with Cheongju Leaders Rotary e-Club of South Korea, District 3740.

Pres. Shelley Pascual shares the importance of WASH project in the school.

Meanwhile, project coordinator and Past President Edgar T. Guinucud urged the teachers and local officials to help Rainbow Rotarians watch over the construction of the said project.

Janet Esperanza, Eduardo Natividad, and Joreen Cureg, the school's principals, expressed their gratitude for bringing the water system projects that they had been working on for years.

"A few days from now, we will be having our own water system with quality and stability. We can solve our problem of no water supply in school," Esperanza said.

For his part, Solana Vice Mayor Meynard Carag said "the RCTR provides a solution to the unending problem of my constituents. Our LGU fund is not enough to cover the water system needs of the community".

"We need your support system, like your non-government organization, the Rotary Club of Tuguegarao Rainbow, to facilitate the progress in the town," Vice Mayor Carag said. (OTB/ADS/PIA-2)
