QUEZON CITY (PIA) -- President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. leads another groundbreaking ceremony under the administration’s flagship housing program, Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) Project.
Batasan Development and Urban Renewal Plan was launched in Quezon City. The plan eyes to construct 233,182 housing units, two 33-storey buildings, and improve the Batasan Tricycle Operators and Drivers’ Association (TODA) terminal. More than 2,000 housing units from this project are intended for members of the TODA and informal settlers located in Batasan-Commonwealth area.
Alongside this event, another launch in Isabela for the Cauayan City Housing Project targets to benefit thousands of families through the construction of nine 5-storey buildings designed with recreational parks and other amenities that are beneficial for the future community.
The President expresses the administration’s commitment to achieving the construction of 6 million housing units under 4PH by the end of his term. He mentioned during the ceremony his goal to provide the Filipino people with decent and affordable housing.
Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Jose Rizalino L. Acuzar expresses his hopes to “narrow the housing gap in the country.”
He mentions that some of the goals of the project are renewing urban spaces as well as building sustainable communities allowing relocated people to continue their livelihoods. Thus, every housing project was strategically built to have access to all the basic necessities of a Filipino family.
PBBM also mentions that a social issue like the housing problem in the Philippines can only be addressed through a whole-of-nation approach. Members of the Local Government Units (LGUs) are expected to identify suitable lands for the project, selection of qualified beneficiaries, and the assurance that the space is sustainable and livable in the years to come.
Aside from providing roofs for families, the flagship housing project will also generate around 1.7 million jobs every year from 2023 to 2028.
4PH will be implemented under the “Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino: Zero ISF (Informal Settler Family) 2028 Program.” It was officially launched in September 2022 and since then several groundbreaking ceremonies have been done across at least 15 LGUs in the country. (MVV, PIA-CPSD)
