QUEZON CITY (PIA) - President Ferdinand R. Marcos reiterates the goal of his administration to provide the Filipino people with decent and affordable housing. Hence, the government is exploring ways to maximize idle government lands as part of the administration’s efforts on narrowing the housing gap in the country.
He mentions that they are doing in-depth studies based on existing laws before giving go signal to housing projects on idle government lands.
Today, Marcos is present during the groundbreaking of the Disiplina Village in Arkong Bato Park in Valenzuela City. This is the fourth Disiplina Village in the city, the first three were built in Barangays Ugong, Bignay and Lingunan.
The project is a collaboration between the Valenzuela City Government and the private sector. It was rooted from the devastating effects of Typhoon Ondoy in 2009 and aims to provide a thousand informal settler families (ISF) situated nearby danger zones with safe and decent housing.
Disiplina Villages was made possible by contributing efforts of the National Housing Authority (NHA) and Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
Since the Marcos assumed presidency, he continuously looks for ways to improve the lives of the Filipinos through various projects and one of his main priorities is housing. In 2022, the administration together with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) has launched the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) Project.
The Disiplina Villages and 4PH projects are designed to provide a complete, accessible, and decent housing to the Filipino people at a low-cost. These are strategically built nearby schools, health centers and government services.
He highlights the success of any project when government and the private sector work together for the betterment of the Filipino people. (MVV-PIA CPSD)
