CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)-- The Out-of-School Youth Development Alliance (OSYDA) of Cagayan de Oro City met for its 14th quarterly meeting to review progress on the plans of the alliance towards giving second chances to out-of-school youth and bringing them back to school, employment, or entrepreneurship.
Right after a courtesy call to Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Rolando A. Uy, OSYDA discussed recent updates on programs of the alliance at the said 14th Quarterly Meeting and the first meeting of the year. Also addressed during the meeting are committee functions, the approval of the OSYDA Plan, a draft Technology Transfer Agreement for the E-Monitor Mo App, the creation of implementing rules and regulations, as well as the upcoming 2023 OSYDA Kahigayonan Caravan.
During the meeting, the City’s Oro Youth Development Office's (OYDO) OIC, Lord Saver D. Centina, shared with the body the awards given by OSYDA during the National Youth Development Alliance Summit.
"Awards received are TOP Youth Development Alliance of the Year, Awardee for Excellence on Resource Generation, Plaque of Recognition for advancing an innovative and synergistic approach, and then the Plaque of Commendation to Mayor Uy. These were handed over to the YDA team, the representatives, during the YDA Summit last February 21–23, 2023," he said.
Further, Alliance Co-Chairperson and SK Federation President, Councilor John Michael L. Seno, said that he is hopeful for a stronger collaboration among members of the alliance.
(I am hopeful that we can serve more youth, that we can have them employed, bring them back to school, or provide them with skills training. We talked about the E-Monitor Mo app. This app makes government services available to our youth)," said Councilor Seno.
The co-chairperson said that the E-Monitor Mo App allows ease and convenience for youth to have access to education, skills training, and employment opportunities from the government.
(Through the E-Monitor Mo App, our youth can reach out to the local government, and the local government, through the Oro Youth Development Office and the Out-of-School Youth Development Alliance, will then facilitate and forward the youth to DOLE, PESO, ALS, if they want to go to school, or to TESDA. It will be easier for them)," he said.
Seno hopes that members will keep their promises because many young people who aren't in school also want help.
(I am wishing that our commitment in the past until now will remain, as long as there is OSYDA, or even in the smallest ways possible, we can be of help)
The OSYDA was established through City Ordinance 14329-2022 and further strengthened in the current administration through Executive Order 035 series of 2023. (IJBD/PIA-10)
