KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato (PIA) -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 12 is gearing up for the upcoming 125th Kalayaan Independence Day celebration on June 12, 2023, with a series of events aimed at empowering the Filipino workforce and advocating for the rights of children.
Under the theme “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan,” the commemoration will kick off with the much-anticipated Kalayaan Job Fair, organized by DOLE 12 in collaboration with SM Mall of General Santos City and the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the City Government of General Santos.
The job fair is expected to bring together 50 local employers and 20 overseas recruitment agencies, offering a multitude of employment opportunities for job seekers.
Simultaneously, DOLE 12 will host the Araw ng Kalayaan para sa #BatangMalaya in solidarity with the global fight against child labor.
This event will involve engaging activities and gift-giving for 75 identified child laborers and their parents or guardians, highlighting the significance of safeguarding the rights and well-being of every Filipino child.
Recognizing the importance of holistic employment services, DOLE 12 will set up a one-stop-shop for government services in collaboration with several government agencies, including the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Philippine National Police (PNP), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Social Security System (SSS), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Professional Regulations Commission (PRC), and Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
The one-stop shop aims to streamline the process of accessing pre-employment services for job seekers, thereby expediting the path to possible gainful employment.
Meanwhile, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) pledged to provide services such as in-demand skills demonstrations, processing and release of NC II, and provision of scholarship and training opportunities.
The Independence Day event will also feature government assistance and a showcase of livelihood products from DOLE-assisted livelihood beneficiaries and Department of Trade and Industry-backed micro, small, and medium enterprises. (With DOLE 12 Technical Services)
