Isabela City IP community to get 300 NHA housing project

ISABELA CITY, Basilan, July 24 (PIA) – At least 300 indigenous families in Isabela City are expected to receive free housing from the National Housing Authority this year.

The Isabela City Housing Focal Team recently met with officials from NCIP-9 Provincial Officer Engr. George Jocutan and Legal Officer Atty. Gibran Abubakar to ensure that all requirements are fully complied for a smooth turn-over.

The requirements are very particular with the validation of all listed beneficiaries who must necessarily qualify as per guidelines of the NHA on their IP housing program. The validation was onducted by a team led by NCIP on July 24, together with the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), City General Services Office (CGSO), City Engineers Office (CEO), and Local Economic Development and Investment  Promotions Office (LEDIPO). 

The City Government of Isabela de Basilan's ongoing partnership with the National Housing Authority ensures that to qualify, beneficiaries have met the necessary guidelines from the NHA. Once the process is completed, the LGU will endorse the verified lists of beneficiaries to the NHA for approval and awarding of the housing units. Housing units are expected to be turned over to the LGU very soon.

In Isabela City, three IP communities with 300 IP families will benefit from with the NHAs IP housing Project. This aims to provide a happy and dignified life for Indigenous Peoples in Tampalan, Carbon, and Diki Barangays. It is also a priority project of Mayor Sitti Djalia A. Turabin-Hataman, in partnership with the National Housing Authority. The project is nearing 100% completion and initially includes 300 housing units to be initially allocated across the three barangays. 

The NHA housing project for 100 IP families in Barangay Diki has a construction cost of Php 19,955,611.00, in Tampalan with Php 19,950,068.00 and Php 19, 953, 960.96 in barangay Carbon. All these 300 housing units has a floor area of 24.8 square meters. All these are intended to be given to Samal Badjao families in the three barangays. 

The National Housing Authority Housing Program is part of the national government’s flagship program under the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

This is also part of the Isabela City LGU's HAPIsabela program, which aims to uplift the lives of Indigenous Peoples and provide equal opportunities to all its residents. The validation is a crucial next step in ensuring that those who most need these improvements in their lives receive the support they need.
