SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) -- The Antique Electric Cooperative (ANTECO) committed to fully support the conduct of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Election (BSKE) on October 30.
It has further disclosed that necessary preparations were made to prevent power interruptions from occurring on election day.
ANTECO manager engineer Neal Peter C. Veñegas assured Antiqueños of their preparations to secure the stability of the power supply and that all the transmission lines are well-maintained.
Veñegas also reported the coordination made between ANTECO and the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to prepare the polling centers with proper lighting during the election, especially since the counting of votes will be made manually.
ANTECO already conducted clearing activities to maintain and clear the transmission lines, thus improving the integrity and reliability of the power supply.
He also reported the deployment of at least 100 personnel before, during, and after the election in all coverage areas aside from the regular line crew to monitor the power situation and undertake troubleshooting if needed.
Line crew will also be deployed in far-flung areas so they can easily respond in case of power interruption.

ANTECO is currently operating with seven substations with a total capacity of 65 MVA from Culasi, Bugasong, Sibalom, San Jose, Maybato, Hamtic, and Tobias Fornier towns.
With all the preparations, Veñegas is hoping that no power plant will be down on that day that might cause unexpected power failure.
He likewise urged the consumers to report to ANTECO any untoward incident in their locality that may cause power interruptions.
On the part of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), Senior District Manager D4 Panay for Operations and Maintenance Lazaro dela Cruz reported the clearing operations of power lines to ensure no power interruptions will occur during the BSKE 2023 due to NGCP faulty lines.
