A New PIA Milestone: Strengthened CNA and enhanced employee welfare

QUEZON CITY (PIA) – The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) and PIA Employees Association (PIAEA) welcomed a new milestone with the Awarding of Certificate of Registration of the Collective Negotiation Agreement (CNA) from 2022 until 2025.

Civil Service Commission (CSC) Director Fe P. Lacaba awarded the certificate of registration and extended her congratulations to both parties. She mentioned that the certification is a result of the harmonious working relationship between the PIA employees’ association and the management.

For his part, PIA Director General Ramon Lee-Cualoping III expressed the support of the management to the PIAEA and the whole PIA community. He also shared plans to strengthen human resource and steps in achieving the Prime HRM (Program to Institutionalize Meritocracy and Excellence in Human Resource Management) Level III.

“This March and in the succeeding months we will undergoing a lot of trainings for all of us. Leadership trainings, performance driven trainings… including procurement,” he announced.

DG Mon reminded PIA employees the mandate of the agency and the responsibilities of its members to disseminate information about projects of the government.

“We Explain, Explain, Explain because we are enablers of Philippine development.”

During the awarding ceremony, PIAEA President Girlie Bangunan also announced the association’s plans including the resumption of the collection of union dues and the reopening of loan assistance for employees.

Discussion of work arrangement and a meeting with Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Cheloy Garafil are just some of the things to look forward to by the employees and the association. (MVV, PIA-CPSD)

In addition, DG Cualoping assured CSC on the improved workplace management at the agency, “In PIA, we are going to have very professional, ethical, and safe workspace for everyone.” He also reiterated the agency’s core values that is practiced on a day-to-day basis.

“First it is always about Merit… it is about what you can do, what you can deliver, and what you can offer to the agency and for the nation. Second is Service… it is not about counting the cost but what you can give that is servanthood. Doing more than what is required of us. And lastly, it is always about Excellence. I keep on repeating this, mediocrity is a sin. There is no excuse to fail,”
