BALINGASAG, Misamis Oriental (PIA)—The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-10 completed its Flood Control project in Barangay Mandangoa as part of its initiative to bolster the province’s flood control mitigation capabilities.
Under the Duterte Administration’s Build Build Build program, the P33 million flood control structure implemented by DPWH-Misamis Oriental 1st District Engineering Office along Balatukan River is envisioned to prevent flooding in nearby coastal areas and riverbanks to prevent the loss of lives and property damages.
The 263.70-meter project with hand-laid rock embankment, granted riprap, reinforced steel, and structural concrete, is a continuation of the existing flood control structure projects in the province which aims to prevent river waters from overflowing during intense rainfall.
As the region intensifies its disaster prevention and mitigation capabilities, the DPWH-10 assures the communities of Balingasag limited damages and the loss of lives caused by flooding from the Balakutan River through its Balakutan River Flood Control Project. (DPWH-10/PIA-10/Misamis Oriental)
