KaYa NA activity capacitates young moms, OSYs

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--The Kagay-anon Youth Network Alliance (KaYa NA) successfully implemented a youth engagement and volunteering activity, dubbed “Angat Oportunidad: Lakbay para sa OSY” last March 25-26 in Brgy. Tablon, this city.

The initiative aims to provide teen mothers and out-of-school youth (OSY) with knowledge on basic bread and pastry production, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy.

Learning these topics can equip them with the proper understanding, allowing them to have options in coming up with alternative sources of income and livelihood.

Right after the youth engagement, the outputs which are baked oatmeal cookies and cupcakes were distributed to 20 children of Barangay Tablon. Hygiene kits were also provided by the volunteers of Kusgan Volunteers, Inc.

Partners during the activity are LEADCOM, Barangay Tablon, Sangguniang Kabataan of Tablon, Pilgrim Christian College, PYAP CDO Chapter, Kusgan Volunteers, USAID Opportunity 2.0, Divina Dimarucut, and Mikki Chan.

KaYa NA believes that by having this kind of initiative, they can level up their youth engagements aligned to the needs of their fellow youth, and with their partners, they can make a change for them.

KaYa NA, currently headed by Dessiree Rose Valmoria, is a youth group that aims to foster youth participation among OSYs in Cagayan de Oro City by believing in their capacity to create change and advocate for social good. (KaYa NA/IJBD/PIA-10)
