POLOMOLOK, South Cotabato -- Polomolok Fire Station (PFS) on Wednesday, April 5 reminded Polomolok motorists to refrain from drinking alcohol if they are planning to drive.
Data from Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) of PFS showed that around 80 percent of vehicular accidents in the municipality are caused by drunk driving.
The EMRS responded to forty-nine (49) road crashes during the first quarter of the year-- from January to March.
“When you look at the data, it is quite alarming that most of it (road accidents) can be attributed to impaired drivers or drinking under the influence of alcohol,” PFS Fire Marshal Insp. Lindon P. Narvaza said.
The data did not include figures recorded by other responding units.
"It is common for us that we’re using holidays or any special occasions to drink and then drive. However, it is a big mistake. That is why we would encourage people to make your arrangements before you go out and drink. If you’re going to drink, drink at home,” he added. (SFO1 Philip Chan/BFP-Polomolok Fire Station)
