Department of Education- Bureau of Learning Delivery Director Leila P. Areola and Philippine Information Agency Director-General Jose A. Torres, Jr. gear up for the 2023 White Cane Safety Day Celebration, mandated under Republic Act No. 6759.

This law designates August 1 of each year as White Cane Safety Day in the Philippines. It also tasks both DepEd and PIA to organize education and information campaigns to raise public awareness about the challenges of visually impaired individuals and to foster an inclusive society.
