ILIGAN CITY (PIA)--The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - Lanao del Norte urges the public to take first Step 1 of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys( registration before going to registration centers to have Step 2.
“Ginaencourage namo ang wala pa naka-Step 1 or wala pa namo na house-to-house [registration] na magregister online,” said PSA-Lanao del Norte PhilSys Focal Person Robe James Desierto.
[We are encouraging those who have not taken up Step 1 or have not gone through our house-to-house [registration] to register online.]
Desierto said there are two ways to accomplish the Step 1 registration, the face-to-face registration which was conducted by PSA through going from house to house from January to May this year, and the online registration.
He said the face-to-face registration was only done to prioritized citizens in the hinterlands of the city and the province of Lanao del Norte who do not have access to online transactions.
Among the communities included in the house-to-house Step 1 registration were those in 23 barangays in the city, to wit, the entire area of barangays Digkilaan, Rogongon, Bunawan, Kabacsanan, Bonbonon, Hindang, Mandulog, Lanipao, Mainit, Tipanoy, Abuno, Panoroganan, Kalilangan, Dulag, Upper Tominobo, Ditucalan, Pugaan and Upper Hinaplanon, and a part of barangays Sta. Elena, Kiwalan, Dalipuga, San Roque and Buru-un.
Desierto also said that citizens who have not been part of the face-to-face registration must undergo the online registration through https://register.philsys.gov.ph and shall be subject for an appointment which can probably be scheduled starting September of this year.
“As of now, kung magvisit ka sa portal, dili pa jud ka makaset og schedule kay dili pa available ang registration centers dinhi sa Lanao del Norte kay limited pa ang registration kits mao nang dili pa mi makacater og online registrants. Mahitabo na siya nga pwede na makaset og appointment schedule para sa mga nag-online probably by September. Dili pa sad namo mahuman og cater ang gi-Step 1 sa June to August nga duration,” he said.
[As of now, if you visit the portal, you cannot set a schedule yet because the registration centers here in Lanao del Norte are not available as registration kits are just limited, that is why we cannot cater yet to online registrants. Scheduling of appointments will happen probably by September. We cannot also finish catering people done with Step 1 from June to August duration.]
Meanwhile, PSA-Lanao del Norte Chief Statistical Specialist Osler Mejares assured the public that despite not being prioritized immediately, they should not worry as the government will still carry on its operation until a great percentage of the population will be registered.
“Amidst the pandemic, the agency finds a way to implement this project. We may limit the number to be catered for a day or we set instructions as to who and when to cater to the registrants, but this is just for the safety of everyone... There is nothing to worry about. The law aims to register all the Filipinos so even not prioritized these past few weeks, you can still be able to register as we will continue our operation until almost all the residents of this country have been registered to have their own IDs,” he said.
