419 fire victim families receive assistance from Sen. Bong Go

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Feb. 27 (PIA) – Senator Christopher “Bong” Go visit Zamboanga City on Saturday (Feb. 25) to extend assistance to 419 families who were victims of fire incident in Barangay Kasanyangan last Monday, February 20, 2023.

“Wala pong makakapigil sakin na makapagbigay serbisyo, kahit saang sulok pa po ng Pilipinas,” Sen. Go said.

(Nothing can stop me from providing my services, wherever in the Philippines)

Each family received Php5,000 to Php10,000 cash assistance initiated by the Office of Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go, also together with him is Sen. Robin Padilla to distribute the assistance to the families and extend their services to the community.

Aside from the cash assistance, additional hygiene kits were also provided from the Department of Social Welfare and Development as an augmentation to the victims. Food packed, gadgets, bikes and toys were also raffled to the residents as part of the program to lift the people’s spirit and spark joy amidst their situation.

DSWD-9 Regional Director Riduan Hadjimuddin also assures to provide immediate assistance and augmentation to disaster victims in the region, which includes food packs and hygiene kits. 

"Huwag po kayong mawalan ng pag-asa, ang importante ay buhay kayo. Ang gamit po ay napapalitan, ang pera ay kikitain pero ang pera ay hindi nabibili ang buhay. A lost life is a lost life forever,” Sen. Go added.

(Do not lose hope, what is important is that you are alive. Things are replacable, money can be earned but money cannot buy lives. A lost life is a lost life forever)

Meanwhile, Sen. Padilla also assures his continuous assistance to the residents of the city which includes housing projects, especially to the families who lost their homes in the fire incident.

Sen. Go emphasized that the residents of Zamboanga is close to his heart as he frequently visits the city to extend assistance through his programs and projects including the three Malasakit Centers opened in the city.
