GSP NegOr, Siquijor Council holds 38th encampment after pandemic

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, May 5 (PIA) -- After three years of hiatus, the Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) Negros Oriental and Siquijor Council will once again conduct its Council Junior, Senior Cadet Encampment on May 12 to 14 at Camp Lily I. Gamo in Sibulan town.

The council is now prepared for 38th encampment with the theme: "Girl Scouts: SHErvive as Trailblazers and Pathfinders in the New Normal."

More than 1,500 Girl Scouts from Negros Oriental and Siquijor are expected to participate in the three-day event full of exciting and adventure-filled activities.

The campers will be divided into the Junior or elementary level, Senior or high school level and Cadet or the college category.

Activities lined up during the event include Larung Pinoy, obstacle games, disaster preparedness, martial arts, basics of first aid and fire safety drills, campfire, talent night among others.

The encampment aims to promote the preparedness of young learners to do useful things for themselves and others, to train them in Scoutcraft and to teach them patriotism, courage, self-reliance, and kindred virtues.

This is also to inculcate in the youth patriotism, and encourage their involvement in public and civic affairs. 

The encampment activity is led by the GSP Council with the assistance of participating agencies that include the Department of Education, Provincial Health Office, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Information Agency, Municipal Government of Sibulan, DPWH, among others.
