TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, May 12 (PIA) -- Residents of Campatud in Loon and its nearby barangays thanked ABS-CBN’s premier emergency humanitarian assistance program for building for their community and its catchment areas a modern rural health station that would now cater to their community’s health care and the government’s health-related programs and services.
ABS-CBN’s Sagip Kapamilya’s Program Head Marcel Riñon, along with their project management team handed the newly-built health center to Loon Mayor Elvi Peter Relampagos, who also turned over the responsibility to Campatud Barangay Chairman Narciso Pacomios Jr, who would be sharing the responsibility in operating the facility with Loon Rural Health Unit.
Built inside the Campatud Elementary School which sits in the boundary of Campatud and Cansubayon in Loon, the new health station has ample waiting area, assisting nurse’s room, patient processing and inquiry room, pre-natal diagnosis room, and a rest room.
The facility also comes equipped with electrical and plumbing connection, two emergency lights, fire extinguisher, work tables, monobloc chairs, and three electric fans.
Bohol Vice Gov. Victor Dionisio Balite, who came to the activity for Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado, said he is glad the facility was built in a far-flung area to show to the people that the government is true in its gesture of getting close to the community it serves.
Relampagos, who received the key or responsibility during the turnover, and Dr. Shannen Jaye Orcullo-Langcamon committed to put up the necessary staffing complement, equipment, and medicines necessary for the full operation of the facility that has sprouted within a peace and order-challenged community in the mountaintops of the Maribojoc mountain ranges.
“Hindi lang po kami ang gumawa nito, ito po ay gawa sa pagtutulungan nating lahat,” Riñon said, citing the community’s joint effort in preparing the community stage and event for the day.
That day, the nearby Campatud Elementary School pupils have to contribute to the program by giving presentations, which also garnered appreciation from the project funders.
The Campatud Rural Health Station is the latest of Sagip Kapamilya’s physical humanitarian assistance to Loon.
In 2013, the same humanitarian assistance program gave 70 units of complete shelters for the Loon earthquake victims.
Years later, it also gave classroom buildings to Cabacungan Elementary School in the island of Cabilao.
After Typhoon Odette, ABS CBN’s Ernie Lopez donated plywood and iron roofing sheets to all storm victims of Cabacungan in Cabilao, while the same humanitarian assistance group hauled in food and non-food stuff to Loonanons during emergencies like typhoons. (RAHC/PIA7 Bohol)
