CEBU CITY, CEBU, June 3 (PIA) -- The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Central Visayas has officially kicked off this year's celebration of the National Information and Communications Technology Month (NICTM).
In a regional launching activity held on June 2, the DICT-7 highlighted the programs and activities that emphasized the four vital focus areas: digital innovation and inclusion, digital governance, digital workforce competitiveness, and digital infrastructure and cybersecurity.
As the country celebrates ICT month, the agency vowed to continue promoting digital transformation and advocating technological innovation in order to deliver the public more efficient government services.
With the theme "Connecting Communities, Enriching Lives, and Forging a Digital Future for the Philippines," the month-long celebration will feature various activities, such as cybersecurity trainings, ICT orientation and training, free Wi-Fi sites launching, start-up webinars, and other ICT-related online training and activities.
During the regional NICT Month launch, an assisted SIM registration was also conducted by the telecommunication companies, as the DICT also pushed for the nationwide SIM registration.
The launching of National ICT Month in Central Visayas was led by DICT Central Visayas Regional Director Frederick DC Amores and attended by officials of regional line agencies, representatives from local government units, and different stakeholders from both the public and private sectors.
Through Presidential Proclamation No. 1521, the month of June has been formally declared as NICT Month to highlight the substantial influence of ICT across various social and economic domains. (RGC/PIA7 Cebu)
